2012 Chingay Singapore


In 2012,the Chingay procession was held on 3rd and 4th February @ Pit Building, Singapore.
This parade was shown on Singapore's Media Corporation's
Television Channel 8  on  Sunday, 12th February, 2012 @ 4.30 p.m.

Chingay Parade 
It commenced in 1973 and this year  it marks 40 (forty) years of annual celebration of the parade.
To the Chinese,  "Chingay"  derived from the Hokkien dialect, which consisted of cultural diversity, 
dazzling extravaganza of colours well known for its resplendent floats performed by Singaporeans and foreigners.  It also means "the art of masquerade" and in Mandarin it is called " Zhuang Yi ".

Annually, the Chingay festival is held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year's celebration
and to all Singaporeans it is a parade of  the people, their dreams and their pride .
The floats parade is believed to be the grandest street and floats procession in Asia which showcases
rich, vibrant  international cultures and Singapore very own multi-culturalism.
